Cultural habits and rituals evolve over time and can significantly change the necessity of certain products. Consumer product manufacturers of all branches need to adapt to societal changes and its respective new habits and lifestyle.

"Villeroy & Boch" has established its position in the porcelain industry over the time of their existence. To stay competitive and reach out to emerging markets, new eating habits were identified and briefed for a fresh influx of ideas in conceptual form. "Tischkultur ohne Tisch" ("Dining culture without a table") was formulated to determine specific fields and applications.

Receptions are an ever occurring, but still not properly addressed event regarding foods and beverages. Eating and drinking while standing, moving around or getting to know people can be frustrating – traditional tableware is designed for static scenarios – sitting at a table.

»Wedged in reception« addresses the problem by proposing a simple, yet aesthetic solution. The base plate's size and format were defined for light snacks respective the usual circumstances of such an events. Positioning and securing the glass near the palm of the hand helps balancing the plate and provides a safe feeling moving around. Additionally replaceable standardized rubber bands wedge the glass and bowls for side dishes to the plate and add a functional and formal element.
