Byung-Han Kim is a designer
and user researcher
based in Berlin.

He graduated with a bachelors degree in "Integrated Product Design" from the University of applied sciences and arts HS Coburg. His interest in thorough analysis of complex issues was triggered in an combined effort with ↬Fabian Bitter resulting in the first ever "theory only thesis" (↬»Think outside the toolbox«) on Design Methodology within the design faculty.

Going forward with his masters degree at the University of applied sciences FH Potsdam, focus shifted onto the relation of both "humans and objects" and "users and products". The resulting critical assessment of digital principles and understandability of consequences (↬»Indikatoren für Objekte des digitalen Raums«) lead to a strong user perspective approach going forward.

User research is a tool

... to learn about humans, users and customers – deciphering real pains and needs for an better understanding. The informed approach through insights gives a clear perspective on the "Why" to logically determine the appropriate "What" and "How".

Design is a strategy

... to solve problems and generate innovation requiring anlytical thinking, aesthetic understanding for a contextualized strategic implementation. The personal journey from designing products, embracing design as a process to understanding the recipient, lays the groundwork for a holistic solution seeking approach.
Being unbound to specific product outcomes offers innovation in the realm of opportunities and necessities, rather than set conventions and expectations.
