Human – space – object

»Vectis« is the consideration of the relation between the human being, space and object.

Standing on the threshold looking into the dark – space can be assumed, but not defined. Light needs to be, to create the space and make it perceivable to the human. But light needs a source – must be bound to an object.

Human beings make use of light on a daily basis forgetting the effort and technology behind the process of illumination. A simple switch lightens a space through a source afar from them – a distance arises between the things which stand in direct relation to each other.

The created object is a light that questions the (spatial and sensory) separation of the "action of switching" and the "reaction of illumination" by fusing it together at the entrance of a new space.

The conventional separation of the switch and lightsource is broken by a mechanical manipulation, manifesting the change of state onto the object.
